Work on the Shenandoah

This past weekend, volunteers on the Shenandoah Restoration Project did a little bit of laminating. They also built a railing for the deck on the Shenandoah. Volunteers included Pete Hegarty, Mel Bill, Ian Stewart, Orin Saunders and Pete Lancaster.

Anyone who is interested in volunteering on the project can stop by on Saturdays between 10:00am and 1:00pm to sign up and get started! We are always accepting new volunteers, and there is a lot of work to be done. Volunteer hours are Saturdays and Sunday, 10-1.

  1. This is an awesome project. It's so exciting to see a piece of Gig Harbor's history coming back to life. We are looking forward to the finished product. We will make it a point to come down and see this beautiful boat.

  2. Glad to see someone from Maine volunteering on the Shenandoah restoration project - a great joining of Northeast and Northwest maritime heritages !

  3. I fished around the Shenandoah in the early eighties. I was on the Genius with my Grandfather Leonard Crosby. This is an amazing project and has inspired me to do the same with the Genius. I have bought the boat and am restoring it in Port Townsend Wa. One day very soon, the Shenandoah and Genius will be tied side by side as they once were many years ago. I'm sure they have a lot of catching up to do. Stay tuned. Check out ' A Genius Project' on Facebook. Jason Crosby
